NBA Three-Point Legacies
Rick Barry and Dell Curry are two former NBA players known for their shooting. Rick Barry was notorious for his underhand free-throw, which he averaged a 90% rate in his time in the NBA. Slight tangent, underhanded free throws are not a good idea for most. Dell Curry finished his NBA career with a 40.2% three-point shooting rate, and lead the NBA in three-point shooting efficiency in the shortened 1998-1999 season.
Perhaps more impressive is how good Rick and Dell's sons have fared in the NBA at shooting. Dell Curry's sons, as of the 2019-2020 NBA season, have both averaged over 40% from beyond the three-point line.
- Seth Curry: 44.3%
- Steph Curry: 43.5%
Rick Barry's sons didn't shoot quite as well from the arc in the NBA, but amazingly, he's had three do well so far in the NBA. It's still possible Canyon Barry could play in the NBA one day.
- Brent Barry: 40.5%
- Jon Barry: 39.2%
- Drew Barry: 38.1%
Still shocked by the shooting pedigrees of those two families!
